Designer beds

An upholstered designer bed gives the bedroom calm and character. The Aztec bed by Grynasz Studio, with a characteristic headboard in three shapes, received a Must Have distinction and was a finalist of Dobry Wzór (Good Design). Dune has soft, organic shapes and a frame without visible joints, Hiddo shelves hidden in the headboard.

With Modulo you decide the width of the headboard yourself, and Zen has a decorative frame in wood or metal. The beds are upholstered in a fabric of your choice and available on wooden legs or with a bed box for bedding, for mattresses up to 200 cm wide.

Frequently asked questions

Which bed sizes are available?

Beds such as Dune, Hiddo and Modulo are available for mattresses of 140, 160, 180 and 200 by 200 cm. Your interior consultant will tell you which sizes are available per model.

Are there beds with storage?

Yes. Aztec, Hiddo and Modulo, among others, come with a bed box for bedding. In that version the bed sits directly on the floor and the headboard is slightly higher.

Can I choose the fabric of the bed myself?

Yes. The beds are upholstered in a fabric of your choice, and the wooden legs and shelves are available in natural oak, walnut or black.

A designer bed is a bed in which the design, and above all the headboard, gives the bedroom its character. In an upholstered bed, the bed is covered in fabric: it looks soft and calm, and an upholstered headboard offers support when you read in bed.

At Bizzarto you will find five bed collections: Aztec, Dune, Hiddo, Modulo and Zen. All five are available for mattresses of 140, 160, 180 and 200 by 200 cm, and all five come with an optional storage base for bedding.

Like the rest of our designer furniture, the beds are made by hand for you, in the fabric and finish you choose.

Bed with a headboard

Which headboard suits your bedroom?

The headboard is the face of a bed. Each collection has its own take on it:

  • Aztec: an upholstered headboard with an original shape, in three versions. It offers comfortable support for an evening of reading; the largest headboard can be fitted with shelves.
  • Dune: a headboard of curved cushions with original finishing details, fully upholstered or with wooden shelves.
  • Hiddo: a simple form with clever shelves hidden in the headboard, which gave the bed its name.
  • Modulo: you build the headboard from individual panels 20 or 40 cm wide, from exactly the width of the bed to the full width of the wall. The upholstered headboard also dampens sound.
  • Zen: pure lines and a decorative frame in wood or metal, inspired by the Japanese approach in which form and function go hand in hand.

With Modulo you can also choose from three headboard patterns and panels with an integrated wooden shelf, a handy place for bedside essentials or books.

Base and sizes

On legs or with a storage base: what is the difference?

A bed on legs looks lighter and airier. On Aztec, sturdy yet slender wooden legs provide stability and lighten the design; on Hiddo, light wooden legs keep the whole airy, while dark ones give the arrangement more weight. Zen stands on legs of wood or metal; metal further emphasises its modern form.

If you choose a storage base, you gain room for bedding. On Aztec, Hiddo and Zen the bed then sits directly on the floor and the headboard is higher. Dune and Modulo are also available with a storage base.

  • Mattress sizes: 140, 160, 180 and 200 × 200 cm, in all five collections.
  • Bed length: from 214 cm (Modulo) to 260 cm (Dune). Bear this in mind when you measure your bedroom.
  • Wood: legs and shelves in natural oak, walnut or black; on Aztec and Zen also in a solid RAL colour, and on Zen also in metal in a range of RAL colours.
  • Fabric: every bed is upholstered in a fabric of your choice, on Hiddo with piping in the same or a contrasting fabric. Feel the fabrics at home first with the sample box.
Quality from the inside

Quality you can't see, but can feel.

The real quality of a bed is something you cannot see. You see the fabric and the beautiful headboard; what counts lies beneath: the frame. In the construction we use no chipboard, but thick wood, plywood and steel, and high-quality materials. That is why Bizzarto beds are noticeably heavier than average, and you feel it in a bed that stands firm, night after night.

You use a bed every day, for years. That is why the frame is strong and made for long, intensive use, and why it is upholstered and finished by hand. On Dune and Hiddo the frame is designed so that no joints are visible; on Hiddo this is Bizzarto's own solution, which gives the bed its elegant look.

In our sofas and armchairs the same care goes into high-quality foam in the seats, including memory foam (the so-called NASA foam), into the springs and into moving parts made for everyday use. Read more about our quality and about handmade furniture from our own manufactory near Poznań.

Design

Bed and sofa in the same design language.

The Dune bed takes its cue from the gentle roll of hills and echoes the modular Dune sofa. The Zen bed complements the Zen sofas; designers Marta Niemywska-Grynasz and Dawid Grynasz of Grynasz Studio drew inspiration from the Japanese approach in which form and function are closely intertwined.

Grynasz Studio also designed Aztec and Modulo. In 2024 Aztec received a Must Have distinction at Łódź Design Festival and was a finalist in Dobry Wzór (Good Design), Poland's oldest design competition, run by the Institute of Industrial Design. Frequently asked questions

Questions about designer beds

What is an upholstered bed?

An upholstered bed is a bed covered in fabric, often with an upholstered headboard that gives support when you read in bed. All five Bizzarto beds, Aztec, Dune, Hiddo, Modulo and Zen, are upholstered in a fabric of your choice.

Which double bed sizes are available?

All five bed collections are available for mattresses of 140, 160, 180 and 200 by 200 cm. The length of the bed differs per model: from 214 cm for Modulo to 260 cm for Dune.

Which designer bed has storage?

All five beds come with an optional storage base for bedding: Aztec, Dune, Hiddo, Modulo and Zen. On Aztec, Hiddo and Zen, the bed then sits directly on the floor and the headboard is higher.

Which bed has shelves in the headboard?

Hiddo has shelves hidden in the headboard. On Aztec the largest headboard can be fitted with shelves, Dune's headboard can come with wooden shelves, and Modulo has panels with an integrated wooden shelf.

Can I choose the width of the headboard myself?

Yes, with Modulo. You build the headboard from individual panels 20 or 40 cm wide and 73 or 93 cm high, with or without a shelf. The headboard can finish flush with the bed or run across the entire wall.

Why is a Bizzarto bed so heavy?

Because the quality is in the frame. In the construction we use no chipboard, but thick wood, plywood and steel, and high-quality materials. That is why the bed stands firm and is made for long, intensive use.

Can I design a designer bed online?

Yes. In the 3D configurator you choose the bed, the mattress size and the version of the headboard or base, and see the result straight away in 3D. Then you save your choice without obligation and an interior consultant gets in touch. Once you confirm, your bed is made by hand and delivered and installed at your home within 6–8 weeks.

What you don't see

Build quality

You can't see the real quality of a piece of furniture: it is on the inside, in the frame, the foam, the springs and the seams. That is why a Bizzarto is strong, made for long and intensive use — and noticeably heavier.

  • Wood, plywood and steelNo chipboard, but a frame of thick wood, plywood and steel, on a strong base. It stays stable and keeps its shape, even after years of intensive use.
  • Seating comfort that lastsHigh-grade foam from Europe's top brands in the seats, including memory foam (the so-called NASA foam). It moulds itself to your body and springs back every time.
  • Springs and mechanisms for every daySprings give the seat even support. Moving parts, such as recliner and sleep functions, fold-out footrests, armrests and headrests, are made to be used every day.
  • Made by hand, double-stitchedEvery piece is made by hand in our own manufactory, with fabrics and foam from the best brands in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal. All seams are double-stitched, so the fabric and stitching stay crisp for years.
