Sculptural round coffee table with three tops at different heights
Tondo is a round coffee table with a sculptural build: three tops on different levels, with storage in between. Its awards include the German Design Award 2025.
Tondo is inspired by the work of Katarzyna Kobro, one of the most important sculptors of Polish modern art, and by Neoplasticism. In her sculptures Kobro sought an interplay with the surrounding space, in which form and environment flow into one another. That idea returns in the table's construction: three tops are stepped at different heights, creating a round form that looks different from every angle. Grynasz Studio designed Tondo for Bizzarto.
The stepped tops are practical too: the space between the levels lets you store small items, keeping the uppermost top clear. The frame is made of powder-coated steel in black or white. For the tops, choose oak in natural or black, or a vavona burl veneer in a pearl tone – a wood with a pronounced, decorative figure. Tondo is made by experienced craftspeople, with great attention to a meticulous finish.
The design has won several awards. Tondo received the German Design Award 2025 in the Excellent Design category and was a finalist in Dobry Wzór 2024, Poland's oldest design competition, organised by the Institute of Industrial Design (IWP). In 2025 it went on to win an Iconic Award, an international architecture and design prize whose latest edition drew more than 800 entries from 37 countries.
