Bizzarto La Roche, curved sofa with curved modules
Curved & round sofas

Curved sofas, shapes that embrace.

Curves bring calm to a room and turn sitting together into conversation. From the semicircular Columbus to the curved modules of La Roche: you design your round or curved sofa in your size and fabric.

Design your sofa

A curved sofa is a sofa with a curved or semicircular footprint, on which people sit turned towards one another rather than side by side. An organic sofa goes a step further: soft, flowing lines without hard corners, often inspired by forms found in nature.

You will find both in our collection. With Columbus you create straight, semicircular and round arrangements, La Roche has curved modules, and Bofii comes as a gently curved three-seater that embraces those seated on it. Irys, Dune and Mist have soft, organic forms. On this page you can read which shape suits your room and how to design it.

Shapes

Which curved sofa suits you?

From a half circle to a subtle arc: five ways to bring curves into your home.

01

Semicircular or round

Columbus plays with curves. The semicircular module, available in three sizes, is a sofa with a distinctive shape in its own right or part of a corner arrangement. You choose with or without armrests, and a round pouf completes the arrangement.

02

Curved and modular

La Roche by Grynasz Studio combines straight and curved modules (213–235 cm) into arrangements for any room. The collection, a dialogue with Le Corbusier’s Villa La Roche, received a Must Have distinction in 2025.

03

Gently curved

The curved three-seater of Bofii (187–205 cm) embraces those seated on it and makes conversation easier. Bofii is inspired by the architect Ricardo Bofill and won the Red Dot Design Award 2025.

04

Organic

In Irys, armrests, seats and backrests flow into one another, like the leaves of an iris. Dune recalls rolling hills and dunes, and Mist combines asymmetric modules with soft curves.

05

Rounded details

A straight sofa can look soft too. Acapulco has rounded sides and curved backrests on tall legs, and Arch by Nicer Design rests on distinctive arched legs.

Placement

Where should a curved sofa go?

A round or curved sofa is at its best when it is given space. Where a straight sofa often stands against the wall, a curved sofa can sit in the middle of the room.

  • Free-standing: Mist calls for a central place in the living room, and Acapulco is at its best when you can see it from every side.
  • As a curved corner sofa: the semicircular module of Columbus can form part of a corner arrangement, and with the curved modules of La Roche you create a soft, rounded corner. Read more about shapes and sizes under designer corner sofas.
  • Around a coffee table: a curved sofa and a round coffee table reinforce one another, as with Tondo and its three tops at different heights. Read more about the round coffee table.
  • With walking space: measure the room and keep at least 90 cm of walking space clear. Your interior consultant will help you find the right size.

Quality from the inside

Quality you can’t see, but can feel.

A curved form asks more of its maker than a straight one. Curved cushions and tight seams over a curve are handwork: in Dune, shaping the curved cushions takes considerable experience and manual skill, and the crafted details of Arch can only be achieved by hand. What you see and feel is the fabric and the beautiful design. The real quality is where you cannot see it:

  • The frame: no chipboard, but thick wood, plywood and steel. A sofa that stands freely in the room and is used from every side needs to stand firm.
  • Springs and foam: under the seat, springs provide resilience, and in the seats we use high-quality foam, including memory foam (the so-called NASA foam).
  • Moving parts: the adjustable headrests of La Roche and Mist are made for daily use.

Because of these high-quality materials, our sofas are noticeably heavier than average, which makes them strong and made for long, intensive use. Read more about quality from the inside.

Design it

Designing your curved sofa.

With a curved sofa the fabric plays a big part, because you see it from every side. Bouclé has a soft, curly, cloud-like texture, velvet a rich sheen that moves with the light. You can also choose from woven fabrics, chenille and micro leather. Read more about the bouclé sofa.

The base shapes the character too. La Roche stands on metal legs in brushed silver, brass, copper or a RAL colour; Irys on wooden legs in oak, walnut or black, or it is fully upholstered; Bofii has an upholstered base, oak veneer or solid wood legs; and the arched legs of Arch are upholstered in fabric or leather.

Design your sofa in the 3D configurator and save it without obligation. A Dutch interior consultant gets in touch, helps you tailor the arrangement to your room and, after the consultation, prepares your quotation and discusses it with you. Once you accept and have made your final fabric choice (from € 15,000 in our showroom in Warsaw, where we fly you in free of charge, otherwise at home with the sample box), you pay a 50% deposit and your sofa is made to measure and by hand, in 6–8 weeks. You then receive a message with the delivery date, and delivery and installation follow within 2 weeks. Would you like to compare every type first? Then read how to choose a designer sofa.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about curved sofas

What is a curved sofa?

A curved sofa is a sofa with a curved or semicircular footprint, on which people sit turned towards one another. At Bizzarto, Columbus lets you create straight, semicircular and round arrangements, while La Roche and Bofii come with curved modules or as a curved sofa.

What is the difference between a round, a curved and an organic sofa?

A round sofa has a semicircular or circular footprint, like Columbus. A curved sofa follows an arc, like the curved three-seater of Bofii or the curved modules of La Roche. An organic sofa has soft, flowing lines without necessarily being round, like Irys, Dune and Mist.

Is there a curved corner sofa?

Yes. In Columbus the semicircular module, available in three sizes, can form part of a corner arrangement. In La Roche you combine curved modules with a 115 cm corner module and a 180 cm chaise longue.

Does a curved sofa fit in a small living room?

Yes, if you choose the size carefully. The semicircular module of Columbus comes in three sizes, the curved three-seater of Bofii is 187 to 205 cm wide, and the modules of Irys are proportioned to fit smaller rooms too. Do keep at least 90 cm of walking space clear.

Which curved or organic sofa has won a design award?

Bofii won the Red Dot Design Award 2025, the German Design Award 2025 and Must Have 2024. La Roche received a Must Have distinction in 2025, and Dune a Must Have and the Diament Meblarstwa 2024.

Which fabric suits a curved sofa?

That is a matter of taste. Bouclé (Florence and Ascot) has a soft, cloud-like texture, velvet (Claude and Seven) a rich sheen that moves with the light, and chenille is velvety soft. With the sample box you can look at the fabrics at home first.

How do you recognise a well-made curved sofa?

By the finish and by what you cannot see. Curved cushions and seams over a curve call for handwork. Inside, the frame of a Bizzarto is not chipboard but thick wood, with springs and high-quality foam, including memory foam. That makes the sofa noticeably heavier and made for long, intensive use.

What you don't see

Build quality

You can't see the real quality of a piece of furniture: it is on the inside, in the frame, the foam, the springs and the seams. That is why a Bizzarto is strong, made for long and intensive use — and noticeably heavier.

  • Wood, plywood and steelNo chipboard, but a frame of thick wood, plywood and steel, on a strong base. It stays stable and keeps its shape, even after years of intensive use.
  • Seating comfort that lastsHigh-grade foam from Europe's top brands in the seats, including memory foam (the so-called NASA foam). It moulds itself to your body and springs back every time.
  • Springs and mechanisms for every daySprings give the seat even support. Moving parts, such as recliner and sleep functions, fold-out footrests, armrests and headrests, are made to be used every day.
  • Made by hand, double-stitchedEvery piece is made by hand in our own manufactory, with fabrics and foam from the best brands in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal. All seams are double-stitched, so the fabric and stitching stay crisp for years.
