A designer armchair with character.
From the award-winning Bofii swivel armchair to the Brooklyn wingback: an armchair is a place of your own. Choose the model, the fabric and the base, and have your armchair made by hand for you.
A designer armchair is a single seat in which design matters as much as comfort: a recognisable form, often by a well-known designer, made to last for years.
At Bizzarto you will find designer armchairs by Grynasz Studio, Krystian Kowalski and Mika Design. Two of them have won an international design award: the Bofii swivel armchair and the sculptural Loop.
Looking for an armchair that matches your sofa exactly? Many of our sofa collections include an armchair in the same design language. And for most armchairs you choose from the same fabrics as for the sofas.
Which designer armchair suits you?
Swivelling, sinking in, reading upright or putting your feet up: every model has its own character. This is how our armchairs compare.

Two award-winning armchairs: Bofii and Loop.
Bofii, the designer swivel armchair
The Bofii armchair by Grynasz Studio translates the postmodern architecture of Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill into a soft, monumental seat. Rounded contours and organic proportions make it friendly yet powerful. On its swivel base the armchair gains extra freedom of movement; the slightly recessed base makes it easy to stand up.
- Base: an upholstered base, a base veneered in natural oak (natural, walnut, black or a RAL colour) or solid wood legs.
- Size: 100 or 83 cm wide, or the compact S and XS at 71 cm.
- Comfort: a wide or narrow armrest, a high or low back cushion and your choice of seat and back softness.
- Awards: German Design Award 2025 (Excellent Design) and Must Have 2024. The armchair has been added to the permanent collection of the National Museum in Kraków.
Loop, a sculpture to sit in
Loop by Krystian Kowalski won the Red Dot Design Award 2025 in the Furniture Design category, as well as a Must Have distinction. A subtle, organic line rests on a solid oak base, in natural, walnut or black. The collection comprises an armchair, a chaise longue and a matching footstool, with or without the characteristic armrests. Read more about our award-winning furniture.
A wingback chair or an armchair with a pouf?
Brooklyn by Mika Design is a contemporary wingback chair: the familiar shape of the classic wingback in modern lines. The high backrest supports your head, ideal for reading or listening closely to music. The wings are adjustable, and you can place a loose cushion exactly where you want support.
A pouf turns an armchair into a place to stretch your legs. These models come with a matching pouf or footstool:
- Brooklyn: pouf of 62 × 50 cm
- Soho: optional pouf of 52 × 52 cm
- Viva: pouf of 57 × 59 cm; the armchair is also available as a recliner
- Bofii: round pouf of Ø 54 cm
- Loop: footstool of 65 × 52 cm
Looking for a large pouf as extra seating? Our round Poufs come in Ø 100 and Ø 120 cm. If you want to relax half-lying, read more about recliner chairs and sofas.

A matching armchair for your sofa.
A sofa and armchair in the same design language bring calm to a seating area. That is why many of our sofa collections have an armchair of their own:
- Riva: a clean-lined sofa bed with an Italian sleeping mechanism and a matching armchair. The ergonomic shapes of sofa and armchair provide comfortable support and a natural posture.
- Torii: a sculptural wooden frame inspired by the Japanese torii gate, with an armchair of 94 × 88 cm. Winner of Must Have 2024.
- Arch: soft seats on arched legs upholstered in fabric or leather. The armchair by Nicer Design is 76 cm wide.
- Irys and La Roche: armchairs of 107 and 113 cm wide in the design language of Grynasz Studio’s modular sofas.
- And more: Zen, Calvados, Manhattan, Norman and Trivio also let you add an armchair to the sofa.
Match the fabric to your sofa or let the armchair contrast on purpose, for example in bouclé. Soho complements almost every Bizzarto collection stylistically, which makes it a versatile addition. Read more about the designer sofa too.
Quality you can’t see, but can feel.
What you see and feel is the fabric and the beautiful design. The real quality of an armchair is on the inside, and you only truly notice it after years of use.
- Construction: no chipboard, but thick wood, plywood and steel. In Loop even the visible base is solid oak, which demands great skill from the furniture makers.
- Springs and foam: in the seats we use high-grade foam, including memory foam (the so-called NASA foam).
- Moving parts: the Bofii swivel base and the Viva reclining function are made for everyday use.
- Weight: because of high-quality materials, a Bizzarto armchair weighs noticeably more than average.
That makes your armchair strong and built for long, intensive use. Every piece is made by hand in our own manufactory and comes with a personal serial number and certificate; for an award-winning piece, the certificate states the design award it has won. Questions about designer armchairs
What is a designer armchair?
A designer armchair is a single seat with a recognisable design, often by a well-known designer, in which form and comfort matter equally. At Bizzarto these include Bofii by Grynasz Studio, Loop by Krystian Kowalski, and Brooklyn and Soho by Mika Design.
Which designer armchair has won a design award?
The Loop armchair by Krystian Kowalski became Red Dot Winner 2025 in the Furniture Design category and received a Must Have distinction. The Bofii armchair by Grynasz Studio won the German Design Award 2025 (Excellent Design) and Must Have 2024.
Is there a designer swivel armchair?
Yes. The Bofii armchair is available with a swivel base, upholstered or veneered in natural oak. If you would rather not swivel, choose the same armchair on solid wood legs.
What is a wingback chair?
A wingback chair is an armchair with a high backrest and side wings that frame your head. Brooklyn is a contemporary wingback chair: 112 cm high, with adjustable wings, a loose cushion and a matching pouf.
Which armchairs come with a pouf?
Brooklyn (pouf 62 × 50 cm), Soho (52 × 52 cm), Viva (57 × 59 cm) and Bofii (round, Ø 54 cm) have a matching pouf. Loop comes with a footstool of 65 × 52 cm.
Is there an armchair to go with the Riva sofa?
Yes. The Riva sofa bed has a matching armchair in the same clean lines. Torii, Arch, Irys and La Roche, among others, also offer an armchair in the design language of the sofa.
Can I have an armchair made in the same fabric as my sofa?
For most armchairs you choose from the same fabrics as for the sofas. Your interior consultant will help you match fabric and colour; with the sample box you can look at the fabrics at home.
Why is a Bizzarto armchair so heavy?
Because the quality is on the inside: no chipboard, but thick wood, plywood and steel, springs and high-grade foam, including memory foam. These materials make the armchair noticeably heavier than average, and strong enough for long, intensive use.
